What the creator gets
Meta pays the creator $0.01 for every Star a fan sends on Facebook, and Instagram pays the same for Stars sent with gifts, so 100 Stars are worth $1.00 to the creator. In other currencies the calculator converts at the day's exchange rate.
Stars are one of the ways fans support a creator. For Twitch's Bits, see the Twitch Bits calculator.
What fans pay
Fans buy Stars in packs, and the price depends on the country. In the US App Store the smallest pack holds 45 Stars for $0.99, and bigger packs cost a little less per Star. Each country's App Store sets its own prices in its own currency.

Stars on Instagram
On Instagram, fans buy Stars in the app and send them as gifts on Reels. Instagram pays the creator $0.01 per Star and pays out once the balance reaches $25. To receive gifts, Instagram asks for:
- a professional account
- an age of 18 or older
- 500 followers or more
- a home in one of the 45 countries Instagram lists
Who can earn Stars on Facebook, and when Meta pays
To earn money from Stars on Facebook, a creator needs 500 followers for at least 30 days in a row and must live in one of the 75 countries where Meta offers Stars. Meta's help page says Stars cannot be sent from Crimea, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Russia or Syria.
Facebook pays out once a month, around day 21, for the month before. In the US the balance must reach $5; elsewhere $25, or $100 by wire transfer. A smaller balance carries over to the next month.
